Jake Spruance
Graduate Student
Jake Spruance is a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania in the Genomics and Computational Biology (GCB) graduate group. He graduated with distinction in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University (BSE, 2023), where he completed an additional major in Computer Science and a minor in Chemistry. He is interested in using computational methods to interpret how RNA processing events shape the proteome. In the Xing lab, he focuses on modeling and understanding the effects of sequence variants and RNA isoform diversity on normal and diseased cell biology. Jake loves trying new things, whether that be cooking a new dish, seeking out live music, learning to box, or exploring Philadelphia.
